An Eight-Year-Old’s Take (aka Book Report) on a Classic Fable: Wise Advice for Today

Personal Yummy #97

One day a man and a boy went out to the fair to sell their donkey.

As they went along, they went past four groups of people.

Some complained that they should be riding on the donkey.

Others said that the man should be riding on the donkey, and others said that the boy should be riding on the donkey.

So both of them rode on the donkey.

Then they went past a man. He said, “That poor old donkey. I think you should carry him.”

So they got off the donkey and carried him.

As they went farther into the fair, everybody laughed at them.

So they went home.

The man said, “If we pleased everybody today, we will not please anyone the next time.”
